Amish Bow tie quilt on black background from the 1930s. The size is 72" by 63".
There is a combination of colorful cotton materials with a thin cotton batting. There is feather, double hearts and double outline quilting at 7 HAND QUILTED stitches per inch. A couple of frays at two seams. Pieced on a treadle machine like the ones the Amish in the community still use today.
The Amish in Holmes County, Ohio exclusively used black as backgrounds for there quilts during this period. Great for a wall display!
