Vintage Hand Pieced Hand Quilted Quilt Feedsack. Monkey Wrench or Churn Dash Pattern. This lovely old quilt is in the Monkey Wrench or Churn Dash Pattern and features a few feedsack prints in the hand done quilt. This quilt was made circa 1930s and is in nice condition.
There are a couple of spots on the blocks and the corner of the quilt (see photo #7) and some light spots on back of the quilt. There is one tiny (1/8 inch square) hole in the corner of the binding and there is some fraying of the binding or folded edge of the binding. The quilt has been hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilt measures 70 inches by 74 inches. The colorful blocks of the quilt are about 6 & 3/4 inches square.
The fabric in between the blocks is a lovely blue & pink tiny floral pattern. The backing on the quilt is white and has been brought around to form the binding on the quilt's edge. The quilt is thin and has a thin layer of batting. This pattern has many, many names. It was first called a Double Monkey Wrench when the pattern appeared in Finley's.
It was also called Churn Dash, Old Mill Design, Hen and Chickens, Double T and Shoo Fly. There are several other names as well.
